What Makes Me Me?

2-3E is studying a special unit this term on Heredity and Genetics.  We are finding out about the physical traits (characteristics) tat make us unique and also the ones we share we others.  We are discovering what genes are and where we find them in our bodies. We watched a couple of great videos to help us get our minds around these complicated ideas. Here they are ......

Kiwifruit DNA

We had great fun extracting DNA from kiwifruit using just simple household liquids.  Watch the video to see how you too could do it at home.

Dog DNA

We 'created' our own dogs by deciphering codes fro various traits. It was fun and also challenging to finally draw our dogs!
